PROJECT CONTROLS MANAGER

Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the Project services team including cost control, document control, procurement and contracts teams for the delivery of the project. In addition, he/she will need to manage all aspects of the project controls and governance systems, ability to make timely decisions, remains focused on monitoring and assessing project targets and is able to manage a team efficiently.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage Project services team including cost control, document control, procurement and contracts teams for the delivery of the project.
• Assist the Project Manager to develop project control management processes including baseline schedule development and management, performance status and reporting, baseline change control, risk management, and earned value management guidance and tools.
• Support the Project Manager with progress reporting including; schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Contractors/service providers on the application of effective planning techniques and controls (earned value, cost and schedule variance, estimates at completion, critical path analysis).
• Assist Project Managers and Contractors in developing project governance, formats, plan optimization, and project controls best practices.
• Work collaboratively with the Project Managers, Legal and Contracts Managers to develop contractual documents and evaluation of tender documents submitted by service providers.
• Support negotiations and provide strategic input into the development, implementation and management of contracts.
• Monitor and control program compliance in respect of the project’s contractual obligations.
• Engage with the Finance team to ensure project financial records are properly prepared and reflect the true status of the project.

Essential Requirements

• Degree qualification in Business, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in a Project Controls role, or similar.
• Experience in Mining, Resources, Industrial or Manufacturing contracts.
• Significant experience managing Project Services, working for Clients/Asset Owners or Large Contracting/engineers in companies.
• Demonstrated hands-on Project Management experience, with the ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
• Sound communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven ability to form and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with stakeholders.
• Strong computer skills, including experience in the use of financial management systems (SAP, etc), Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office advanced level.
